Hi! My name is Elena Petrova and I am the owner of RussiaUkraina.Dating.

'Petrova' is my maiden surname, I used it when I started my Russian Brides Guide website in 1999; I have since changed it (a couple of times) but I keep my Internet identity as "Elena Petrova" so as not to impose any confusion who am I.

My main claim to fame is that I am a creator, owner and director of an online dating agency RussiaUkraina.Dating, I have started it more than a decade ago and I am still running it.

I have also written many books and articles on dating, particularly dating Russian women (for western men, in English), and also dating western men (for Russian women, in Russian). For some time I have been fascinated with dating and relationships, trying to learn as much as possible how it works, having read hundreds of books on the subject, from evolutionary psychology to "The Rules", so I suppose I know a thing or two about love and dating. 

As I was learning about dating, I took several courses in life coaching and completed certification as a Life Coach, and that led me to interest in NLP, so I completed courses as a certified NLP Practitioner, Master NLP Practitioner and then Certified Trainer of NLP. My main background is a degree in philosophy but I have moved much further since.

Although philosophy may seem to be quite an academic subject, I am and have always been a very practically oriented person. I started earning money at the age of 9 harvesting berries at the forest and my grandmother selling them at a street market; this is how I bought my first bike. At the age of 14 I started selling clothes at the markets and by the age of 19 I was making more money selling goods part-time than both of my parents combined, being at the same time a full-time University student with a scholarship for academic achievements.

So, when I could not, by the age of 29, meet a partner in Russia (none of my relationships worked out), I decided to follow the advice of my girlfriend and look beyond the Russian borders in search of a normal, good man for marriage. Being the industrious person I am, I sent my photos to about a dozen of foreign agencies advertising in the local newspapers, plus joined a local agency known in my city (which, in its turn, sent my data to another dozen agencies). In the next year, I received more than 250 letters (air mail!) from men all over the world but mostly fron the US - but I eventually married a man I contacted myself through an ad in the same local newspaper. From the beginning of my international dating venture to my marriage it took me about 18 months, which at that time seemed to me like a long time! :-)

So, I got married, very quickly got pregnant (I really wanted a family) and was sitting at home, pregnant and having nothing to do - this is where I started to read Internet sites about "Russian mail order brides" (I didn't even know such term existed) and, being the industrious person I am, decided that the information available was too limited and incorrect, and created a site about 'Russian Brides', to dispel the myths about Russian women seeking men for marriage. It was the first website about Russian women created by a Russian woman. The site became popular very quickly and I started to receive lots of letters from men, which allowed me to expland the site and information that men were obviously seeking.

I wrote my first book, which was in Russian, for Russian women looking for western men, named '101 Tips on How To Find a Husband Abroad - Practical Guidance for Russian Women'. I published the book online and in just a few months Russian 'Cosmopolitan' mentioned it in an article about Internet websites, and the site became very popular in Russia overnight.

So, I had lots of western men interested in Russian women, and lots of Russian women interested in western men... are you following me? So, being the industrious person I am, the next step was logical - I started my own dating agency! This is how RussiaUkraina.Dating was born. 

All this happened in 1999-2000, and by the end of 2001 my agency became one of the leading online Russian dating agencies with thousands of clients. From there, it keeps growing every year and now, here we are!

My dating research and NLP courses came much later, in 2006-2007, so now I am kind of passed all this ferocious curiosity in dating techniques and realized that the simplest way of being successful in dating is simply to be honest and sincere, most of all with YOURSELF, find out what you really want and don't want, and then put your best foot forward and go get it! It takes effort but if you keep going, keep learning from your mistakes and take them as learning experiences and not somebody else's fault, you'll realize you have total power over your results and if something doesn't work, you just need to change what you are doing until you get the result you want! This is as simple as it goes in achieving success.

I have been told that I am beautiful, intelligent and inspirational and that I am a smart business woman. I hope I am. I have two children that I love dearly and a partner that means the world to me. My business and my agency RussiaUkraina.Dating is my passion and is like another child to me.

I live on the Gold Coast, Australia (one of the most beautiful and enjoyable places on the planet), and have friends and associates in US, Europe, Canada, New Zealand and of course Russia and Ukraine.
